Change Your Attitude and You Change Everything By Marsha Lindquist
Have you ever noticed how vacation changes your whole attitude about life? I’ve noticed this and I’m sure you have too. That is, of course, if you have taken a vacation sometime in the last few months. Because if you don’t take a vacation or at least some time off, you probably don’t remember how this different attitude you acquire when you are away from the daily grind dramatically alters your life.
Step up to the plate and see what it’s like to totally relax for several days or, if you’re lucky, weeks. Did you ever notice that it’s just like another New Year’s Day? You come back to reality and you want to transform a few things. Resolve time. Continue with the good exercise routine or maybe have those salads on a regular basis. Whatever habits you resolve to transform, the bottom line is it’s your attitude that has moved. And it’s for the better.
Whether it’s as a result of a vacation or a life-changing event, your outlook is somehow different. You’ve given yourself permission to change direction, at least. When this metamorphosis occurs, your entire mind-set changes towards everything including your family and friends, job and leisure time, eating and exercising patterns, home and immediate surroundings, and even the car you drive and the metro you take.
Something goes click in your brain. When you have time out to just let life happen and you are in a relaxed state, your brain is more receptive to things that are normally in the foggy zone. These may be things that have been nagging at you. Or they may be ways people behave. Whatever they are, you come back relaxed and rested and ready to make some changes.
Not ready to change everything? Don’t. But at least when you change your attitude, even about a few things, you have set the stage for changing everything, if you want to do so.
